All Hallows Eve!

Quack Quack! Who's that? It's a duck; no it's Kelsey! Kelsey's first Halloween was lots of fun. We went to her grandparents house, great grandpa's and then back home to trick or treat. She enjoyed some mini M&Ms and read many spooky Halloween books with her Aunt Jennifer. It was a great Halloween, that is until all my gourds were stolen. Oh-well! Happy Halloween!

Fall Festival and Goebel Farm Re-Deux

This weekend the Jones' (Erik and Jennifer) joined us in Evansville for some family fun. We went to Goebel Farm again, so Uncle Erik and Aunt Jenn could get some gourds. There we played with the farm puppies, well they were like 125 lb labs, but puppies to Kelsey. She had a blast. She played and touched all the various gourds. I am glad we went again. She didn't have fun last weekend when we went. So, it was definently worth the additional trip!

Above are some pictures from the Fall Festival that the Cobb's and Jones' went to this weekend. We tried a walking taco and deep fried bacon. Kelsey tried a gyro and LOVED it. We also ate a funnel cake, texas tenderloin (pictured above), pronto pup (corn dog with pancake vs. corn meal), gyro, and an elephant ear (deep fried tortilla with cinnamon and sugar). I know what you're thinking, "man that's a lot of grease." And yes, you're right. But it was ooohhh so good! We look forward to the Fall Festival every year. Everyone gets together to support over 100 non-profits in some good eatin' fun.

PLAYDOUGH!!!!!

Kelsey had her first experience with playdough today. I don't think she knows exactly what to think! It also appears daddy didn't do her hair. Ha! She looks awfully cute though! She is getting so big!

Hi Ho! Hi Ho! It's off the the Pumpkin Patch we go!

Kelsey is now 10 months old and becoming very strong willed. She is eating only table food now and wants nothing to do with baby food anymore. Her all time favorite thus far is graham crackers! Although, no teeth yet. She is trying to pull up and probably will be walking soon. She loves to talk and will chat up a storm. This past month she's had two sicknesses but she is recovering. Luckily neither were H1N1. This past weekend despite fighting a virus the Cobb's went to the pumkin patch. She tried to have fun but just couldn't do it. Above are a few pictures.

Kelsey's First Boyfriend(s)

Kelsey loves her first boyfriend(s). At daycare she loves to touch heads with Julian and to play in the "garden" with Carter. She is almost 10 months now, weighs approximately 22 pounds and measures 26.6 inches long. She loves crawling all around the house and climbing on Alice. She is beginning to pull up and try to stand. At this pace, she'll be walking before she has teeth. She has been teething now for what feels like forever and is continually sick from it. Actually, today we are home nursing a fever and an upset stomach that's more than likely from teething. Hopefully, they will cut soon and all will be well.

My Little Lantana

This week has been exciting, unfortunately. Little Miss Kelsey decided to sneak a Lantana Flower for a snack on her afternoon stroll in her pink hippo. She soon started to gag and that's when we found a leaf on her belly. Luckily, we were able to identify the flower by the leaf. When the gagging wouldn't stop and the vomiting, nose running, and watery itchy eyes began we finally realized that maybe we should call poison control; who told us to go to the emergency room immediately. By the time she saw the ER Dr. she had vomited three times. Each time containing hot pink swirls from the flower petals. The ER Dr. ordered four x-rays. If you haven't seen an infant x-ray device, see picture below. It looks like a torture device.

As if hearing your child gag, vomit (all over you and her), scream (from the flower and it was way after bed time), and cry isn't hard enough, lets now put her in this contraption. They covered me in lead while I yanked her arms above her head, as seen above, and held them in place while she screamed, cried, and was trying to jerk free. This went on for about 5 minutes. It was torture for me and her. About as bad as when they take blood from a baby, which she just had done last week! If your a mom, you know that is such a hard thing to do. At least for me it was. We then observed her for about an hour. Soon after the ER Dr. came in and said that they found nothing in her throat or chest. Thank GOD! Because I don't know if I could have prepared myself for what they would have to do to remove anything from her throat or chest.

She has been fine since she got it all out of her system. She is 100% back to normal and we thank God for answering all our prayers in this nerve racking event. Fortunately, we knew what type of plant and were able to treat her immediately.

These situations are a reality check. I hope none of you ever have to put your child into one of those devices. For any of you who know Andrew well, we have been to the ER multiple times for some serious and some funny bizarre instances that Andrew finds himself in. I am hoping that Kelsey hasn't decided to follow in her father's footsteps! She will now and forever be my Little Lantana!

9 Months Already

Can you believe 9 Months already! I can't, but I am loving every minute of it. She has so much personality and humor. She is an extremely happy baby. I can't believe she's mine half the time. People tell me how lucky I am all the time and they're right. Kelsey is an amazing blessing. Kelsey is trying to learn how to crawl and pull up but she likes to roll best. No matter the method she will get to her destination. She is saying Mama and Dadda and she laughs and babbles all the time. We are working to get her onto table food and switching her to cow's milk. I hope by 1 year to have the bottle, the paci, and all baby food gone. That's the plan at least. She's already well on her way. She prefers adult cups to sippy cups and table food to baby food and she only needs her paci when she's tired or upset. So, we are well on our way.
Last weekend she had her first trip to the Zoo. She went to Nashville Zoo (Grassmere, not sure the name) with her Uncle Erik, Aunt Jennifer, Extenda-Aunt Rachel, and Extenda-Cousin Emily. (Extenda is the term we use for amazing people in our lives that are not actually related but should be.) She had a blast. She petted a camel and a goat and LOVED the fishes. In fact, when we pass fish tanks at the hospital she will wave "Hi" to them. It's so cute.
She loves books, especially The Belly Button Book. We have to take at least 2-3 every where we go. It's almost more sacred then a paci. She also loves her big sissy Alice. They get along great and enjoy playing with each other.
She is growing up fast and I hope to keep you posted as best possible. If you are on Facebook, you can keep up with us there too. I am able to post many more pictures on Facebook!

Colorado Vacation

Kelsey is now 7 months, soon to be 8. This past week we took a family vacation to Colorado, where we saw Kelsey's Aunt, Great Uncle and Aunt, two Great Aunt's, a second cousin, and her Great Grandmother (GranNana as we call her). She had a blast and was amazing during the 15 hour long drive one way. I am proud to say that Kelsey has now been to seven states. Well, 10 if you count while in the her mommy! She loved her first hike in Rocky Mountain National Park, although she fell asleep during it. She is almost 20 pounds now and as you can see above she is quite a chunk. This past weekend she attended her first birthday party honoring her friend Lily McKim. She painted and had a blast. On Sunday we went to the Green River in KY for a family picnic and almost got swept away by the crazy weather. So, it has been quite a week for Miss Kelsey and the Cobb's. We are looking forward to getting back to some sense of normalcy this week.

Daycare Fun!

Kelsey really enjoys her playtime with friends at daycare. She is almost 7 months now and man what a little chunck. She is almost crawling and as you can see she sits up well on her own.

6 Months

Kelsey is now 6 months old. She weighs in at 18 pounds 2 ounces and 25 1/4 inches long. I know! What a chunk! She is so expressive, as you can see in the pictures above. She is learning to sit up and can do so for about 30 seconds at a time. She is also trying to crawl but is lacking the upper body strength to do so, but she is willing and trying. She will soon be cutting 2-3 teeth. One on top and two on the bottom. We are currently trying to get her on more baby food but because of her digestive problems we have to be careful. No cereals, rices, carbs, for now; only fruits and veggies. As you can see she still has those beautiful blue eyes and all her hair. Well, most of it. She is pretty bald in the back. She is going blonde though! The entire underside of her hair, I guess that would be the new stuff growing in, is blonde. Everyday Kelsey is learning something and doing something new. It's truly amazing. In just a few short months she will be running from me!
